Headaches

To deal with stress, we engage a variety of our body's resources. Our minds react to stress by making choices, and our heart pumps our blood more quickly to help us move or react swiftly. We call on our muscles to tense up, readying to fight or to fly away from the stressor. Headaches can result from any of these sorts of reactions.

There are different types of headaches that strike for assorted reasons. Tension headaches may be triggered by stress, eyestrain, or fatigue. The sensation of a tension headache lives up to its name - they can be gripping, pulsing, and pounding.

Migraines can create pain that is mild to severe, but its causes remain somewhat mysterious. For some people with migraines, stress does seem to be a triggering factor. Some migraine sufferers experience their migraines on the weekends, interfering with the time they are taking to de-stress.

Relief from headaches that are due to stress may come in the form of medication or it may come through some lifestyle changes. When you feel a stress-based headache coming on, try taking a walk and getting some air or avoiding the stressful situation for a little while. Give your body and mind some time to adapt to the stress and react in less achy, painful ways.
